Painting Holiday in Frigiliana

20.10.2019 - 27.10.2019 Andalusia | Anna Martin painting, acrylics, watercolor, all mediums, landscape, plein air 1695 GBP

Throughout the painting holiday you will be guided through spectacular landscapes punctuated by the colour of local flowers, and our resident artist Anna Martin will assist you to capture the scenery in a quick and effective way. Anna will guide you to develop your style and technique during the painting holiday. The groups are kept small to allow for individual tuition. We paint for some days in the quiet retreat of Little Alahambra with stunning views over the Mediterranean and mountains that provide a backdrop to the white washed village of Frigiliana. We also set out to new locations in the area during the painting holiday to inspire your creativity and return to Frigiliana to eat in specially selected local restaurants and on the quiet terrace at Little Alhambra.

Frigiliana – the base for your painting holiday in Spain.  Set in Andalucia is the typical pueblo blanco of Frigiliana which sits high on a mountain ridge overlooking the Mediterranean with spectacular panoramic views. Voted the ‘prettiest village in Andalucía’ by the Spanish tourism authority, it is a tangle of narrow cobbled streets lined by whitewashed houses, their wrought-iron balconies filled with planters of brilliant red geraniums. Small plazas provide shady seating amidst the original Moorish architecture. With approximately 320 days a year of sunshine this must be one of the top ten places for a painting holiday in Europe. All year sunshine makes this a perfect destination for painting holiday throughout the year.

Frigiliana is the base for your painting holiday in Spain. We have the sole use of a stunning Moorish style house set in large grounds with pools and fountains, rose gardens and a Romanesque courtyard – our own Little Alhambra. The surrounding region has unspoilt beaches, mountain landscapes of the Sierras de Tejeda, and the spectacular botanical gardens and palatial fortification of the Alcazabar in Malaga. We are spoilt for choice for painting holiday locations. Experience the lush landscape of the Axarquia.

Sharing delicious Mediterranean cuisine and making new friends are a very important part of a painting holiday in Spain. We specially select the best places in which to eat, from local bodegas and tapas restaurants to friendly sea food restaurants on the beach. We visit a local bodega during the holiday to taste the local wines and wash down a delicious lunch in the warm sunshine.
