Sketch Islay painting workshop

14.06.2021 - 19.06.2021 Western Scotland | Dietmar Finger painting, watercolor, sketching, landscape, plein air 650 GBP

With groups of max. 4 students the workshop SKETCH ISLAY will be rather personal. You will explore the island during the day and create b/w or coloured sketches in villages as well as in the countryside, at spots you might never discover on your own. There will be lunch breaks and the opportunity to either get yourself a snack or the packed lunch provided. Depending on weather conditions the workshop may take place in the studio, where you can also put an emphasis on watercolour painting. In the evening Dietmar will take you to one of the local pubs or restaurants for dinner.

Dietmar Finger studied Product Design in Germany and the UK, before working as a motorcycle- and car-designer for Honda, BMW, Opel, Saab and Volkswagen. His love for Scotland made him end his professional career as a designer and move to the Isle of Islay, where he works as an artist. He also hosts a B&B in the wee hamlet Carnduncan, called FACING WEST, which offers a peaceful, scenic and creative environment.

From Carnduncan one can cycle or drive to Machir Bay, Saligo Bay or Sanaigmore Bay within minutes. Loch Gruinart, of special interest not only for bird watchers, is only a couple of miles away. By car you will get to Port Charlotte or Bowmore in 20-30 minutes.

The capacity of the B&B, one double, one twin room, both with en suit shower rooms, limits the size of the group staying on site. (Booking yourself a room in the area is an option, but due to the rural situation of the house and studio you would need to organise your personal transport!)
