News blog - artistravel international

Artistravel goes...went International already!

Despite the rather unusual circumstances, we managed to bring our first international artist to Germany – and be sure of him not being the last.

It all started back in 2018 with a small team and new idea for artistravel offers: Classes with top-level, english speaking tutors for a broad, international audience. There have already been some English speaking courses, led by hand-picked tutors of course, in the beginning of 2020 – and then cam COVID 19. The international holiday traffic was stopped and with it, artistravel international. This was a huge setback for our project, yes. But! Not a reason to give up! Which we didn’t. The artistravel team is working harder than ever. And her are the first dates for international tours.

The start this year made Ian Fennelly who travelled from Great Britain and showed everyone what he is capable of in Hattingen. Ian is quite a celebrity in the world of Urban Sketching and we are so glad and so proud to have him in our team. As are his course participants who were all very happy about the art holiday:

“So Great! This hasn’t been a holiday – rather work at holiday :) And everyone loved it!” - Birgit

"It was beyond joyful to work with Ian, I would do it again in a heartbeat!“ - Thomas

There are some Ian-Workshops to follow next year: Vienna, Stockholm and Bad Reichenhall. Save your place in time! Not only is Ian popular in the Urban Sketching world, so are his workshops.

In addition to that we offer two international tours with the Urban Sketcher Renata Lahalle who is full of joy and whose favourite thing is to sketch plein air. She lives in France where she is quite a celebrity herself already. Her work captivates through a skillful mix of exact observing techniques, expressive use of colour and artistic lettering. With her, Paris and Sevilla are calling in 2021!
