The Motifs of Podravina

Have you ever been to beautiful Croatia? Picturesque landscapes and widths of nature and an incredibly rich culture – and speaking of it: let us introduce you to ‘The Motifs of Podravina’, one of the largest cultural manifestations in this part of Europe! You can find any form of cultural gems, with the most attractive being: naive art fair, old crafts fair, folklore, antiques fair and gastronomic offer of the Podravina region – and thousands of guests visit Motifs of Podravina in 3 days!

To be more precise on the aforementioned specialities:

NAIVE ART FAIR - this is the largest naive art fair in the world! In the central part of the park around the pavilion, a large sales exhibition of naive glass painting and wood sculpture for three days, with artists demonstrating their skills. There is also an Open-air international art colony by renowned artists.

OLD CRAFT FAIR - the largest trades fair in Europe! Showing old trades through interaction with visitors, turn Koprivnica in the days of Podravski motifs into a unique magic of some long time ago. FOLKLORE AND ETHNO GROUPS- the large numbers of folklore groups in traditional folk costumes evoke a blend of Podravina song, dance and customs

STREET FOOD OF PODRAVINA – The food is prepared primarily from domestic (organic) ingredients that are the result of the hard work of the Podravina farmer: prge (specially prepared cheese with garlic and pepers), greaves, bloodworms, boiled buns, vineyard stews, roast duck, Bregofska pita, mazanica, zlevanka, unique and original nettle dishes and more. Many caterers will be presenting their delicacies at the event, but meals can also be tasted at Podravka's Kraluš Pub in the heart of the city.

But this is not all – there’s much more additional program, as for example some beautifully set galleries, such as ‘Gallery Mijo Kovačić’, ‘Gallery Ivan Večenaj’, ‘Gallery of naive art’ or ‘Gallery Josip Generalić’. Or how about a visit the Museum of the City of Đurđevac with a donation by Ivan Lacković Croata and the Interpretation Center "Picokijada"! The museum is located in the fortress Stari grad, a cultural monument of the Republic of Croatia, where is part of a rich donation of works by Ivan Lacković Croate also one of the naive artist. On the first floor of the gallery spaces is Interpretation Center "Picokijada", which in 2017 was listed among the top three attractions of the year in Croatia.

Anyway, such a great offer in a great country – and this year this event will take place from 5-7th of June in Koprivnica. Do you think it will be worth a visit? If so... enjoy!
