Miles Copeland was a super hero of the music business. During the 80ies and 90ies he managed top ten bands such as the „The Police“. Miles also supervised bands like 'REM' who were on his IRS Records label for 7 albums and 'The GoGos' who achieved the first ever number one album in the US for an all girl band - also on his IRS Records label. Further he managed 'The Bangles' through their hit records and 'Jools Holland' whom he put on TV and launched his now long time TV presenter career!

Today Miles Copeland owns a beautiful castle in the south of France and as his interest for the arts has endured, the historic mansion has become a venue for all sorts of creative activity. While looking for some assistance concerning the organization and handling of these creative retreats Miles discovered artistravel and got in touch.

His Chateau is the perfect place for artistic activities. It is built in a fortified medieval style and consists of majestic towers and battlements. Eleven bedrooms, decorated with art and antiques, offer a a majestic atmosphere with warm comfort and modern equipment. It is a quiet little paradise for those who are seeking creative and artistic inspiration. In case of rain, guests can work in his large open space barn.

The workshops Miles is currently hosting cover a wide range of topics. Reaching from plein air photography and painting courses, to book & script writing and even cooking courses. The most special workshop is the so called „Songwriter Retreat“. which has made Marouatte castle the birthplace of many hit songs over the past years. The retreat featured musical legends like Cher, Jon Bon Jovi, Zucchero, Jason Mraz and Ellie Goulding, to name but a few.

By glancing at Miles’ life we were stunned about his achievements. Police without him might have never become the celebrities they were. And there’s a gazillion of other projects which he has taken to success. Working with him could be a fantastic opportunity for artistravel.

The castle also offers sufficient catering facilities and many possibilities for sportive activities (swimming pool, tennis court, badminton, ping pong table, table football etc.). If you like outside sports, you can also go on a run along the jogging paths in the 110 hectares of woods and fields which surround the castle.

Airport Bergerac Dordogne Périgord is a one hour and 20 minutes drive away. Lisle, a small town near the castle, offers everything you might need besides your creative activities: bakery, grocery store, pharmacy and restaurants.

The Perigord Vert region of the Dordogne, were the castle is located, is full of picture-perfect villages surrounded by beautiful nature with countless vineyards.
