Bad Reichenhall
When you close your eyes and imagine this: crystal clear lakes, wildly rushing mountain streams, saturated alpine pastures and majestic mountain peaks… Well. Then you are basically imagining Bad Reichenhall. The health resort is suffused with mild, aromatic and oxygen-rich alpine air, which gives the climate there an almost healing touch. Not only is the nature part stunningly picturesque – the urban part is as well! Rich in culture, countless wells and parks, beautifully constructed pedestrian areas… and an old salt mine as a highlight as well. Doesn’t that sound like a place just made for plein air painting or sketching? Another fact that should be mentioned when describing Bad Reihenhall is the proximity to two more definitions of picture perfection: one is Salzburg, one of the most beautiful towns in Austria, the other is the “Königssee” (King’s Lake), a lake that often times is referred to as “the most beautiful lake in the world”. All in all: Picturesqueness made into a destination. Perfectly laid between Munich (Germany) and Salzburg (Austria) in beautiful Bavaria, there is not only one of the most painting-worthy environments, but also the richest Bavarian culture there is – especially when it comes to food. So many delicious dishes to try out and so many beautiful views that just ask to be captured – a destination you will never forget.
