Rügen

Rügen is located in the Baltic Sea and is Germany’s biggest island. It offers unique Natural World Heritage Sites like its grand beech woodland and the beautiful chalk coast. The latter is especially famous because of Caspar David Friedrich’s paintings, which are very popular pieces of German Romanticism. Further, Rügen owns several Baltic Sea Spas which invite you to go for a swim and old fishermen’s villages with thatched roof houses. Seaports like Sassnitz consist of a charming mix of modern, restored and old houses, tiny alleys and stairways.
