Lesvos

Lesvos, also known as ‚Lesbos’, is a beautiful Greek island about 162 miles / 260 km northeast of Athens. It is located in the northern Ägäis, a side sea of the Mediterranean Sea. The weather is nice and warm throughout the whole summer. Lesbos is a great place for painters and photography fans. Did you know that Lesbos has more varieties of birds and wildflowers than any other place in Europe? Once you are there you’ll be confronted with so many fascinating motives and breathtaking views which are only waiting to be caught in your sketchbook or travel photo stories. Furthermore, there are beautiful beaches, pine and hardwood forests, blue shining rivers and over a million olive trees that will strike your eye. Lesvos is famous for its very delicious olive oil which is produced on the island. In the “Museum of Industrial Olive-Oil Production of Lesvos” you can find out more about the cultivation and care of the olive trees, the production of olive oil and there are a lot more regional specialties to discover! We recommend arriving by plane to the capital of Lesvos, Mytilini. You can also arrive by ferry which takes about 1,5 hours from Ayvalik, Turkey.
