Suffolk

Suffolk is a county in England north-east of the country’s capital London. It borders to the North Sea in the east. The Suffolk Coast and Heath are a so called Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Orford Ness is Europe's largest vegetated shingle spit, almost cut off from the mainland. It can be reached by boat easily. The ride is worth the efford as Orford Ness is one of Britain's most important nature conservation sites, most beautiful during flowering time. An interesting contrast is given by the remains of a time when Orford Ness was used as a secret military site. The name "Suffolk“ by the way has its origin in expression "south folk“, just in contrast to "Norfolk“, which lies - what a surprise - just north of Suffolk.
