The focus of work in this course will be on slab construction techniques to help the student form either sculptural or functional pieces. Stencil, mono-printing, and straight on slip application techniques will be demonstrated and explored. From there, we will discuss and choose which pieces enhance the clay forms and would better benefit from exposure to the flames in the kiln. All participants will have the opportunity to bake their own pieces in our Sasukenei - Smokeless Kiln. The woodfiring, the dynamic dialogue between form and fire and the active participation in this process makes it an unique experience that everyone can be a part of.

Robbie Heidinger looks at everything around her through this “curious eye” of hers. Life and its organic forms have become the source of inspiration for the artwork she has been developing. In this course, Robbie will guide participants in this world of discovery, seeking to help them make the most of their ideas and creativity through her vast experience.
