Following the successes of several great 'Expressive Pastels' HF Holidays over a number of years now, another three rewarding art holidays have been organised for you in 2020. The ever popular 'Newfield Hall' at Malhamdale The Yorkshire Dales is back by popular demand (being really close to the iconic Malham Cove and Gordale Scar) Monk Coniston Hotel (close to the fells and wonderful village of Coniston in The Lake District) and BRAND NEW FOR 2020 - Nether Grange in Northumberland at Alnmouth, right there on the coast!

Painting days in the studio on your first day on each holiday will help you to quickly get used to the media and creative techniques with the versatile media of pastels which you will thoroughly enjoy for the rest of your week when working outdoors (weather permitting).

Standing in the centre of the quiet harbour village of Alnmouth, Nether Grange has excellent views over the dramatic North Sea coastline. Nether Grange is a really great high standard Country house with a modern feel. The relaxing accommodation has 36 bedrooms, a number of which enjoy views across to the sea, a large lounge and dining room. The conservatory and adjacent bar are a pleasant place to relax after your day's painting activities.
Nether Grange has an attractive elevated terrace garden and croquet lawn which enjoy superb views out to the sea.

You will learn how to create bold, colourful and dramatic pastel paintings and charcoal drawings outdoors and in the studio at Nether Grange and throughout the week you will be inspired by the surroundings to create wonderful expressive seascape pastel paintings you'll be really proud of!
Painting directly outdoors during your exciting art week (weather permitting) the short walk onto the beach and at other scenic locations (taken to by minibus from the Nether grange), you will quickly become more confident as artists learning skills for outdoor painting and studio work to improve your pastel and drawing skills no end.
Suitable for improvers and artists who wish to become more expressive when developing their own personal style and develop great drawing skills too.
Overview
Outdoor pastel and drawing charcoal experiences on the coast and at other inspiring coastal locations by mimibus (weather permitting).
Walking up to 1 mile (approx) carring equipment to several drawing and pastel painting locations so a reasonable level of fitness is needed.
