Caroline Crawford

Caroline is a versatile painter, feeling the subject should dictate the medium. Originally she learnt in oil paint, but recently has taken up pastel sketching on sandpaper enjoying the intensity of colour. For sketching and journaling, on the other hand, Caroline enjoys the looseness of watercolour. She currently runs the Heart of Italy Urban sketchers group.

Caroline Crawford learned to paint in Brussels and worked as a muralist in Europe and the far East. After briefly joining the circus she was awarded a place at the Motley Theatre Design school under the tutelage of Margaret Harris and the filmmaker Danny Boyle. She developed her artistic career designing for theatre and TV, and directing films. Caroline has exhibited at Smiths Galleries, Covent Garden, The Whitechapel Gallery and the Ministry of Sound (it’s a long story) all in London. Having moved to Italy she has since showed locally in Camerino and Tolentino.
