As a teacher I believe it’s incredibly important to always be supportive and encouraging of all students. Every student has different goals, interests, tendencies, fears, etc. I believe that the most effective form of teaching requires an individualized approach that emphasizes the principles of art, such as value, form, color, composition, and so on. It is a great honor to be a teacher and to share my knowledge and ideas with students.

As a painter, my goal is to give viewers of my work a feeling that they can’t get by any other means. I paint works in oil and watercolor, working directly from nature. I love painting en plein air (outdoors), but I also have an affinity for portraiture and figurative work. I am well versed in art history and have a deep respect for artists of the past who have inspired me, many of whom combined academic and impressionistic ideas.
