Jamie Sugg

'I am a Painter and Draughtsman from a small village near Cambridge. My subjects include fenland & woodland landscapes, and village scenes depicting quaint houses and gardens. My landscape work, in acrylics and oil pastels and using a palette knife to provide movement with the paint, responds to the contrasts of light and dark, bringing an emotional response to environment, whilst my watercolour work of more urban and architectural scenes is detailed and precise, aided by my background in building and construction.

I have previously worked in reprographics, structural engineering, architectural facades and in premises management with the National Trust before taking the big step of focussing on a career as an artist. I am entirely self-taught, first starting with watercolours and acrylics and then venturing into oils and coloured pencils. I have been teaching watercolour classes for the last few years now and also teach acrylic palette knife painting with a local art shop during the year.

I have exhibited in London, Ely and Cambridgeshire, and currently exhibit my wildlife drawings with The George Farnham Gallery, Saxmundham

I am a member of the Society for All Artists and a member of Cambridge Open Studios'
