Karen Pearson

Experienced in drawing and painting a wide range of subjects, Karen is inspired by the magic of the natural world, moments in time and the richness of life that surrounds us. Her paintings often capture the ever changing qualities of light and colour, bringing an exciting depth to the work.

Karen runs workshops and classes in Dorking and tutors at various art clubs and societies on request. She is a guest art tutor for Art Safari, which involves teaching on exciting painting holidays in the UK and abroad.

She is an active member of the Dorking Group of Artists, and has worked on the committee as Exhibition Secretary, Winter Education Programme co-ordinator and Chairman. In the past, she has been selected for membership of The Society of Floral Painters and Surrey Figurative Artists.

After achieving a full distinction in HND Fine Art, she went on to study a BA (Hons) Fine Art Sculpture at Wimbledon College of Art (University of the Arts London 2013)

For a succession of years, Karen has exhibited and sold with The Society of Women Artists at the Mall Galleries, Westminster Central Hall, and at the Llewellyn Alexander Gallery, London. She was a former member of The Society of Floral Painters and Surrey Figurative Artists.

In 2013, her bronze work, Small Things, was selected for display at the Threadneedle Prize Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London.

She exhibits regularly at galleries in London and the South-East and her work is held in collections both here and abroad.

Karen has hosted and organised charity painting days, exhibitions and Art4Kids workshops, raising over £16,000 for children with special educational needs.

Her paintings have received several awards:

1997 The St.Cuthberts Paper Mill Award (SAA); 1998 and 1999 Highly Commended Awards (SAA); 2000 HC Award and Best Amateur Award (SAA); 2001 runner up for The Artist and Young Artist of the Year; 2003 Silver Bacchus Award (Denbies); 2005 Visitors Vote (Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking, Surrey).

Karen lives and works on Leith Hill, Dorking, Surrey.
