Kate Sparrow

Kate Sparrow is a British artist who has set up her own gallery and artist studio in the beautiful Principality of Laás in South West France. She works on both portrait commissions and mixed-media art pieces. Kate aims to encapsulate the personality and essence of the person she paints.
Kate attended the University of Kent gaining her BA in Illustration and Post Graduate Certificate in Art and Design teaching. She is a fully registered teacher of 25 years working as Head of Art in the UK and in Hong Kong. She continues to teach art running workshops and classes.
Kate is passionate about sharing her love of art and has fulfilled a life long dream to set up her own studio to work and teach in. She has her own gallery and works with local and international artists.
Kate lived in Hong Kong for many years and the Asian influence permeates her highly decorative style of painting. She has exhibited in cities around the world, including London and Hong Kong. She has been part of group exhibitions, for instance the Asia Contemporary Art Fair, and was selected in three consecutive years for the Hong Kong Human Rights Arts Prize.
She had her first solo show in 2014 looking at the displacement of people in the world. In 2019 her solo show 'I Am Woman' received media attention and aimed to break down codes and conventions created around women living in Hong Kong. She hoped to shine a light on the inspirational women in the city.
