Suzy Birstein
Suzy graduated from ECIAD in 1980, with an Honours Diploma in Ceramics.
She is inspired by the visual and spiritual impact of art from Ancient and contemporary World Cultures, particularly Mexico, Greece, Spain, India, Southeast Asia and Africa.
Picasso, Modigliani, Frida Kahlo, Beatrice Wood, Busby Berkeley, Ganesha and Melanie are her spiritual mentors.
Suzy creates to the rhythms of Jazz, Blues, Tango, and Opera greats, particularly Frank Sinatra, Cole Porter, Astor Piazola and Eartha Kitt.
Suzy's art has been exhibited, published, and collected locally and internatioally.
Her "Motion Pitchers" were commissioned as gifts for 2008 Academy Award nominees for Best Actors & Directors.
"Ceramic Slippers" were commissioned for 2014 "Tap Grace Awards" (see Gallery)
Suzy's art is represented by "Jonathon's", London Ont., "The Nevica Project", Chicago & Studio
She has created and taught from her home-based studio for thirty years.
